Make sure you define the ages you're researching or choose either kids or teens because you may find conflicting information and data if you're doing both. You may also want to consider doing a comparitive study on the effects of video game violence on the two age groups.

Jennifer, this is a very good project. You touched on a very controversial topic and presented both sides of the argument well in your video. Your video was linked from the class website:http://orithirsh.weebly.com/project-based-learning-spring-2016.html

Professor, I thought it would be interesting to share with you that when I was working on my project, I wrote a post on Facebook in attempt to create a social experiment based on Physician assistant suicide. Only one person commented and shared their opinion and around 4 to 5 people liked the post. My hypothesis as to why people did not share was because they either we're not informed about what physician assisted suicide was or they were just weren't prepared to speak about death. After I made my video I shared it on Facebook and 6 people have shared my video and a lot of people were commenting sharing their opinions. The video has 50 viewers and 5 likes on the actual youtube channel. I just thought it was a great observation and thought it would be great to share. I believe people were not really open to what happens when a patient is terminally ill because they never went through it until they saw my video and saw it from my point of view.

When technology was created, it was created to connect people with each other. People wanted easier ways of knowing what was going on around them and technology gave them the access to do so. As technology became more available our culture and social expectation became intertwined with it. We put our opinions online and this created different groups of people to follow one idea. Specific cultures along with social expectations began to show how we are separated from each other because of what we follow or listen to through technology. Technology is now shaped through our desires as a community. We no longer use technology as a form of communication or central gathering but more as a way to divide us into groups with the same opinions as ours.

1. The AltSchool is a new type of elementary school, which incorporates alternative educational ideas on how children learn. Why does this alternative school have a high number of applicants, even though there are no studies that prove this method is effective? Do you think one factor may be because education is viewed as product and parents have become the consumers?

As technology begins to change so do we. It used to be that when people went to a presidential inauguration they would stand there and applaud. Nowadays we stay on our phone recording the president instead of applauding him. They used to look in the newspaper the next day just to see a recap of the night, now we just watch the videos that we take. There used to be a group called "Crown Kites" and they used to deliver the news, they were trusted and were known to be a reliable source. These days we don't know who to believe everybody puts there own input on what's going on in the world changing the news. It is becoming socially acceptable for everyone to think/ say what they want and that's why things are changing. You don't know who you can trust, you don't know who is telling u the truth but back then everything was much more straight forward. Now that we have technology we use it to spread our thoughts, you'll see everyone's opinion everywhere. People used to be more social but now all you need is your phone to be "social." Things that were never socially acceptable are becoming more and more accepted everyday.

Technology has shaped society in different forms. People nowadays, can not be away from their phones for such amount of time. Everything around us has changed - society, families, children, our perspectives and perceptions. Technology took a major twist in our society. Adults and even children nowadays have been attached to technology more than ever. Technology changes our perception on how to view the world around us. People are always wanting more and more, never better. Dinner tables have even changed due to technology. Newspapers are slowing down since there is no need for paper because we have our digital mobiles. Technology shows us ideas that are not even real, which drives the person to believing and even wanting something that is not true. It also shows us a part of a picture, yet not the full one so we don't understand the entire story. Technology has taken a turn and has changed our society.

1. Culture and social structures can shape the design and use of technology. One way is making more demands on the technology companies to provide the latest and most up to date products. Politics can shape the use of technology by using social media to get votes for their candidate. The video I watched said how Obama beat out Romney cause Obama used messaging and Facebook and Romney did not. He did not make use of the medium of the day and lost. The Iranian Revolution used technology like Facebook to organize protests. The Chinese shut down Google and took control of what people could search for when they had a revolution. These are some of the ways that society shaped the use of technology.

Technology has changed cultural and social perspective. The more technology we create the more society is going to demand and want more and better. However technology has both positive and negative effect. Anything that an individual use too much becomes a negative. Due to technology being so advice it does benefit our educational system just as much as it harms it. It's great having endless and instant access to information. Due to its instantly students are taught to memorize and not learn

Society has come up with a new type of school called the "micro- school" which us founded by a former Google engineer. This type of school is a Montessori educational, hands on school with technological tools. It is a new type of school that is being researched and experimented to see what the results will turn out to be. Even though there are no studies that prove this method to be effective, many parents would like to try this out and see the results since technology is what society is based on. Also, a hands on and technological education for some students can be helpful and more educational instead of being lectured in a regular learning class. I think that education is a product and parents are becoming the consumers and so they have agreed to try this new idea out.

Education has become expensive over time. The students are going into debt and some people think it is not worth it for them to get education but still be in debt even after they graduate. The prices have been getting higher as the years go by because there is an inflammation, everything around us is becoming more expensive. At the end of the day, getting an education is worth it since the debts can be paid off.

Why does this alternative school have a high number of applicants, even though there are no studies that prove this method is effective? Do you think one factor may be because education is viewed as product and parents have become the consumers? The alternative school have a high number of applicants because most students already learned to use the devices and are familiar with it and most students were given devices at a young age. Yes I think education is viewed as product because every year new technology is build to new devices etc. Technology is taking over the normality of having a book on your hands. Parents have become consumers because for example when their kids are at school, most parents usually give the child a phone if the child have an emergency. As well as giving the child a device as a present. Depending on the parent’s household, there can be desktops computers or laptops are kids are learning from the internet as well. 5/30/2016 03:11:19 pm
