1. Computer science data analysts solve many of our daily life problems. They do so by going out into communities and communicating directly with people about these issues. Doing so, they are able to gather the data and information needed to solve these problems. They later will have to sit down and determine on how to apply their solutions out in the real world. Data scientists really do show results in their work. It has been proven to be effective, as it has helped reform and improve peoples daily lives. 9/12/2016 05:15:41 pm

Social science and data science support social reforms in cooperation together. Social science is the scientific study of human behavior throughout society’s social relationships. Analyzing the physical and emotional interactions between people in general would define this scientific study. Our everyday lives, we continue to live amongst each other with the most basic interactions such as a simple hello, to a more complex conversation. In a scientific experiment, scientist would create a question that would require a series of methods that would further the development of his research. In a social experiment, the only way to further research would be to collect a sum of information from a certain population of people. The data science would be providing a series of statistics to help back up the scientist’s experiment.

1. Social science refers to the study of human society and human relationships. Data science, on the other hand, is an interdisciplinary field referring to the processes and systems to extract insight from raw data. Both social science and data science help advance social reform. For example, a social scientists might go into the field and talk to unemployed individuals about their situations. A data scientist can convert that information into quantitative data and find trends, such as the correlation between suicide rates and the number of people who are unemployed. This data can then be used to raise awareness to issues and/or create interventions.

In data sciences the collector of the data for the data analysts to analyze, while socialist of social sciences go out into the different societies to see how human interact in each one. The data that was collect has one or more of the human factor; a person choosing how to read the data to human people are in a region to consume or produce a local resource. The people affected by a set of data react in different ways; people affected by a state bill would be extreme in their opinions than someone who is not as affected by that same bill. 1. Yes, I believe that culture effects your career choice. Culture and tradition play a roll in your choice because if there is a job that requires you do work 7 days a week, and you are an observant Jew then you may not be able to work on Saturday. If you go to Church every sunday then you may not be able to work sundays. Culture also effects your job choice because certain cultures believe women are supposed to take care of their children.

1) In my opinion, I believe culture does play in a role of the career choice you make. I don't think it plays such a big role in selecting a career choice. I believe people want to go with a career choice that can make them money to support there family and kids. A career choice like elementary school teacher is nice but it just won't be enough to support a whole family. Therefore they tend to go into other careers to try and make more money so the wife can stay at home and take care of the kids.

For example women are seen more as a housewife and caretaker and men's are most seen to "likely" to bring money to the house so he can provide for his family.See many would just call it tradition because this procedures been coming from a years ago ,its weird for many for a women to run for president and is weird for men to become hairstylist that is why many women and men have trouble finding their own perfect career because men's are expected to have better career than women and when dealing with pay a women are most likely to get paid less.

1. In my personal opinion, I feel that a persons culture plays a major role in their career choice. Like many people were saying in the blog some jobs and schools around the world require a person to work or attend 7 days a week and cant because of cultures and traditions. It is instilled in students in america from a young age that they don't have school on weekends and "major holidays" no matter what their religion is. Culture plays a big role in a career choice because culture shapes a persons views and beliefs on life. Culture makes norms and morals for a person. Culture can influence a career choice because it establish gender roles and what ever that role is will influence behavior and job choices.

A job like an NYPD Officer, FDNY Firefighter, Carpenter etc. My parents try and convince me going into those office job fields, but I always tell them that it's my life and I will do whatever makes me happy. In your opinion and from your experience, how does technology influence cultural and social experiences? Why or why not?
Noah Teper
10/5/2016 12:21:04 pm
In my opinion technology influences cultural and social experiences in many ways. One way is the way we communicate to people in other countries whether it be friends or relatives. A bunch of years ago we did not have the technology we have now so either you would send a letter and it would take a while or you would not speak to the people in other countries at all. So now with technology and our phones we could speak to the people in other countries at any time or any spare moment.
Dmitriy Sklyar
10/12/2016 08:07:24 pm
I believe technology influences cultural and social experiences by connecting the world together. Before the internet we would only hear about other cultures and societies through textbooks or other person's opinion. However this is second hand knowledge and is often unreliable. Due to technology, we have access to news articles, interviews, and other ways of getting first hand knowledge from other cultures. We could easily communicate with people from anywhere in the world, to understand how they live their everyday life. These mechanisms allow us to better understand and build cultural tolerance.
Reean Charles

I do believe technology and culture do have a big impact on our society today. We use technology to improve a skill or an art to better serve the people in society. One way we use technology is by talking on our phones or even utilizing the internet. This way of technology is very essential in today's world simply just to keep your loved ones close at a distance. More over technology is also used to help shape us as a person or even share similar values worldwide, from the foods we eat to the attire on our bodies. Technology is needed an will always be needed to mobilize the world we live in today and not stay at a steady pace.
Ervin Maxius
10/19/2016 06:40:06 pm
From my experience technology allows for social interactions to become more wide spread. Thanks to technology, it is now easier for people to communicate with one another. Messages can also now be sent faster and entire conversation can be held between two people in different countries in a couple of minutes. We are also now more up to date on what happens in the world and news travels more quickly. In addition to all of that, technology has also made it easier for people to learn more about other cultures. We can look up other cultures and learn more about their views and customs.
Nicole Policastro
10/19/2016 06:51:23 pm
I strongly believe that technology influences cultural and social experiences because it changes how we think and how we communicate. It is easier for everyone to voice their opinion, and grab anyones attention. This impacts our society because many people rather communicate online rather than in person. I believe that via social media we are building a relationship with technology rather than the actual person.

Technology influences everything. For example in terms of social experiences I sometimes text people who are in the same room as me. People don't have to wait to see each other in person anymore everything is online or social media. Technology also effects culture because something simple as thanksgiving, the way the food was cooked back in the days it isn't cooked that way now because we have technology we have advance stoves or etc.

I believe technology influence culture and social experiences in many different ways. long before technology we learn things through teaching, reaching and even writing letters to communicate with others. now that technology exist we can communicate faster with each other we don't have to read we can listen to the words. technology is needed and will always be needed in today's society
Shawn Frederick
10/26/2016 01:16:36 pm
In my opinion technology does influences cultural and social experiences. On a cultural level, technology helps to push cultural beliefs through the use of the internet. This can shape many peoples cultural beliefs because technology makes it so easy for someone to share whatever they want people to look into. Social experiences are also affected by technology because it allows people to stay in contact almost anywhere. People don't have to send mails to each other that can take a few days. Messages can now be sent at the speed of light to another person.

1. Culture is the patterns taught by society. This includes stereotypes and other forms of discrimination in specific categories. An example is doctors and nurses. Most doctors are male; due to the belief that they are better suited to the job. While most nurses are female; because they are believe to be more caring to the ill. So it does make sense that our culture impacts our career choices, because we are told this is the career for you and the other one is not.
Daniella Brown

In my opinion technology effects both social experiences and cultural experiences. Before we all had cell phones people used to meet up and talk with groups about their concerns . Now that we have cell phones people just text each other and do not really interact in person. In class we talked about Uber, people used to have to talk on the phone to get a car service or call their friend to drive them and now they can just use an app to get an Uber. The way we dress is part of our culture but technology has a big effect on the way we dress. Everyday we look at magazines or models wearing new outfits we all want to get that outfit to fit in. Another way technology affeects our cultures is because we are able to communicate with people all around the world with all different cultures.
Tom Ulloa

I believe that technology has become a critical part of many cultural and social experiences. This is because the economy has become so dependant on technology such as mobile phones and videos cameras. But as Ramesh Srinivasan mentions in the video, cultural and social influences shapes and develops technology. Some of the examples that he mentioned were like people record government issues to show how problematic they are and how people use the torches on their phones to hunt crocodiles at night, this is because they can't get the resources for batteries to power torches, but they still can find the power for phones.

There are many ways in how technology influence culture and social experience. One example is the invention of guns which created gun culture in the United States. Guns are used for self-defense, hunting, and recreational purposes. When this country just started the government gave the right for every man to own a firearm. Back then guns were only able to shoot one shot every third of a minute. As technology progressed guns are able to shoot automatically and the government tries create gun laws which divides this country creating a debate on gun control.

Technology has a major influence on cultural and social experiences in the world today. Today's technology, with all of its capabilities, has changed many things that we do from a day to day basis. For example being able to send messages to anyone all around the world from a cell phone is something people take for granted. Although, texting has limited social interaction for everyone from the age of 14 and up. I've personally seen two teenagers texting each other when they were in the same room! The world has become to dependant on technology to do many things and in a way this limits a person and is changing our culture.

The relationship between technology and society is like a cause and effect cycle. Technology arises due there being a need that needs to be filled or as a bonus to an already existing piece of technology. However the technology that does arise effects how work is done. The most common example is phone. Original the phones' purpose was to call someone far away. Now it is mobile with tons of accessories. Since phones came into society the access to knowledge, both reliable and unreliable, became easier and language has changed, increase in slang and abbreviations.

In my opinion technology does influence cultural and social experiences. An example would be the spreading of ideas and news from all around the world. Through social media you can keep yourself updated on what's happening all around the world, or you could just see what your friends are up too. Another example is the spread of religion. Technology has made it easier for religion to be spread all across the world, so that people can explore new ideas. And before it would be so much harder for people to hear about other religions or ideas but now it takes just one click.

1.The development of sexual hierarchy is affected by cultural change because our society is constantly transforming. From my knowledge the church used to be control of most people now we don't follow the church as much they always taught us what is accepted and what is not by god. Now I do believe that society itself tells us what is accepted and what is not for example same sex marriage.

1. Sexual hierarchy is affected by cultural changes. Being gay or another sexual orientation is allowed and not as frowned upon as it was in the past. However, people still discriminate against gays.

Based on Gail Rubin's explanation of how sexual hierarchy is developed, cultural changes do affect the process. Even though gay marriage is legal in some states, it is still frowned-upon by many people around the world. This is due to religion and culture, which plays a major role in your childhood structure to becoming an adult which can affect your personal opinion of how you really feel about who you are and what's "normal" in society. This leaves people with label's for their sexuality such as "good" and "bad" as mentioned in the video. In addition, I do see the LGBT community more involved in television and pop culture.

1. Cultural changes do effect sexual hierarchy. In the past, people were expected to be heterosexual, the expectations were to have a man and woman marriage. Also in the past, if you were homosexual, you would keep it a secret or you would be disowned by everyone as it was very hard to get respect when you were gay. But now, it is accepted to be gay, it is not seen as a sin and people have become more open about it even if there are certain people who are against gays.

1. Sexual hierarchy is definitely affected by culture and the world around us. Depending on where you live, who you live with, and who your friends are, are all factors that can change your Sexual hierarchy. Our society is constantly changing and that can change the development of sexual hierarchy. The way you were raised greatly affects the way you identify your sexual hierarchy.

1. Cultural changes definitely have an affect on how sexual hierarchy is developed. Our culture is constantly changing and it's normal to conform to society. There is always a form of "good" and "bad" labels when discussing sexuality, and some of those labels stick today. In the 1900's (1900-1940 approximately) women were identified by the way that they looked. The dark hair, dark skin and eyes were usually associated with promiscuous, whereas light hair, eyes and skin was associated as the "angel" and goodie-goodie. I believe that theory in our culture today has definitely made a change and it's not a common theory as to which female is overly sexual. Sexuality now usually refers to the country a woman comes from, for example: Spanish women, European women, etc.

1. Gail Rubin's explanation on sexual hierarchy shows how sexual hierarchy is affectd by cultural changes. Being heterosexual wasnt considered to be a norm for people. Going outside that norm wasnt seen to be normal. Now today going outside that norm is starting to become more and more accepted. Peoples beliefs are starting to change over time because now its alright to go outside the norm. What wasnt considered a norm is now considered.

It definitely feel like Sexual hierarchy affected by culture and the world . Based on on where you live, who you live with, and traditions will influence the way you see sexual hierarchy. In some cultures the women is most respected and run the pants in the house hold and in other women are lower. Its all based off culture.

1) cultural changes effects sexual hierarchy. being gay or lesbian is usually looked down upon by almost every religion. it is said to be a sin and not acceptable. although part of society has accepted it and some states gay marriage is legal, gays are still looked down upon.

1. I believe that hierarchies development can be affected through cultural changes. There are many cultures that don't accept certain types of relationships and these beliefs begin to spread until it becomes a norm.

1. Based on Gail Rubin's explanation, sexual hierarchy is developed based on whatever holds the most weight in a society. Whether it be religion, science, tradition or even law. Religion alone has greatly influenced how most of the world views sex, as it is usually demonized unless, like in the video it is, monogamous, marital and heterosexual. Culture greatly affects the sexual hierarchy because of general rules of conformity within a culture and also how young people are taught to view certain things, these lessons stick with them into adulthood.

1. The development of sexual hieracrchy is affected by cultural changes. As we become more familiar with different types of sexual relationships, they become more accepted. Something that used to be seen as bad may now be socially accepted. For example, gay marriage was always seen in a negative light. Now that culture is changing, people are more showing more acceptance towards same sex marriage.

1. I believe that the development of sexual hierarchy is affected by culture changes. As a society ,we have developed to accept different type of sexual relationship that years ago many did not accept. Many would judge if you were dressed and act differently or if your personality and sexuality is different . Women today is one of the greatest example , they were not accepted to vote , men discriminated against woman when woman wanted to do certain things they believe it was right to do, such as having the same jobs as men or voting, ect. Today we have a women running for president , we have many women going to school and we have many women with different typical jobs. Of course men today still discriminate against women because they are seen more "housewives" or an object. However, woman today are more stronger and are able to accomplish what they believe is right to do. As a society we have developed changes and allow many type of relationships.

The development of sexual hieracrchy is effected by cultural changes. As our culture changes things that aren't morally acceptable change. Being gay used to be bad and you used to be able to get fired from a job if you were gay. Now you are not able to be fired because you re gay and you re no longer looked at as different from everybody else.

1. The development of sexual hierarchy is effected by cultural changes. Long before being gay was seen as an abomination to society. It even go way back to how the world begins with Adam and Eve in some religions. As time goes by, things change so do people change, so being gay has become socially acceptable to communities, families, peers and even at work.

1. Sexual hierarchy has changed and it is affected by cultural changes. There are many different types of sexual relationships. In the past the only time of relationship allowed was a man and a woman. Nowadays, there are many other types of sexual relationships. People show more acceptance now than ever before.

Based on Gail Rubin's explanation on how sexual hierarchy is developed it does get affected by cultural changes. Before it was believed by a majority of people that being heterosexual, martial, and monogamous was the only way a person should live their life. But as time changed more people started accepting and living life outside of these norms. As times change people begin to have different views on life because what was the norm then probably won't be the norm now or later.

1. The development of sexual hieracrchy is affected by cultural changes.because we become more familiar with different types of sexual relationships, they become more accepted. Gay marriage wasn't really accepted by much and were against it. Now that culture is changing, people are accepting the same sex marriage.
